Addressing the Divisional Development Committee Meeting at the Uhana Divisional Secretariat, she said discussions are on to employ graduate development officers as temporary teachers to ease teacher shortage in Ampara.
The minister instructed the divisional secretary to prepare a list of officers who did not attend the coordinating committee meeting and to inform relevant authorities to take immediate action against them.
They also discussed measures to solve the the human-elephant conflict at the meeting.
Eastern Provincial Council Chairman Chandradasa Galappaththi, Provincial Councillors Manjula Fernando and D. D. Meththananda and a number of government officials were present.
