Ranaviru Day celebrations with the participation of President, PM

Ranaviru Day celebrations will be held under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena and participation of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and ministers and members of Parliament before the Ranaviru Monument on May 18, Defence State Minister Ruwan Wijewardena said.
He made these observations at a press conference at the Information Department Auditorium today.
He said the nation would salute fallen heroes and those who were rendered differently-abled during the 30 year war against terrorism and brought about an environment for the people to live peacefully. “The victory parade would not be held this year like in the past,” the State Minister said.
“The money saved from the non-holding of the victory parade would be utilised for the welfare of War Heroes and their family members," he said.
He said War Heroes celebrations will be held in provinces, including Eastern, North western, North Central, Southern, Central Provinces. The final ceremony will be held at Battaramulla on May 18.
He said another celebration will be held at the Independent Square in parallel to these events.
Ranaviru Seva Authority Chairperson Anoma Fonseka requested the public to attend the celebration at 4 o'clock on May 18 to remember the services of War Heroes
